Building a retro windows 98 computer

I’d go the K7 route personally. My 98/2000 machine is a gateway with a K7 on an overclock board. Runs at 700mhz stock, OC’s to 1.3 max. MICH faster than any P3 I’ve put it up against.

Though honestly I don’t have a good GPU choice for it yet. I WANT an ati 9800 or 9800X2 but those are hard to find unfortunately.

I remember Palomino being AMAZING back in the day, they blew most intel chips out of the water if I recollect correctly.

I never could get one back when I was younger though. I’d love to play with one.

I got one free. Its probably my best machine (till I get a G4 tower).

(or accelerator for one of my amiga’s)

Very nice. I’d love to do some old school L1T gaming sessions, lol.

Was thinking of setting up a Q3 server for the community.

That sounds awesome. I wouldn’t mind setting up a Diablo 2 game as well.

I refurbish old computers all the time and will take any pc i can get.
the hardest thing i face is getting people to understand not to just toss them to the curb.
call me and ill pick them up free of charge, There are too many scrap hounds out there that will trash good hardware for beer money.

I build custom machines for different purposes (mostly with linux os’s in them but i set a few up with windows also.
