Building a new gaming rig and have around £850

i live in the UK and im selling my old rig to a friend so i have some spare money and thought i would put some good money into my new rig rather than the £400 rig i currently have. So im just looking for some suggestions on what i should build.

Games i usually play:

  • crysis 2/3
  • battlefield 3/4
  • batman franchise
  • planetside 2
  • payday 2
  • call of duty from time to time
  • fallout
  • metro
  • and a bunch of other indie games

any help would be appreciated guys

Edit: forgot to mention i already have a 120gb SSD

Do you need a monitor? other peripherals? an OS? What settings do you aim to play on? Any brand preferences?

nah i already have a monitor and stuff i have a spare copy of windows 7 64 bit that i can use and i was hoping to run mostly everything at about max settings

Best I could do quickly: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Sheepyy_/saved/2FwF

All games max settings as you requested.

Pros:

  • Very good intel chip that's fairly overclockable
  • Good CPU Cooler
  • Very good budget motherboard; has all the things you'll need as well as having very good overclockability for the price (pretty decent overall, won't get any better for the price)
  • Cheapest good 8GB RAM in the UK atm with haswell chips :L RAM Prices are ridiculous nowadays (had to get something below 1.55V, 1600MHz CAS of 9/10 and have it be dual channel and this was the cheapest, not sure if it'll fit though cause the heat spreaders are obnoxiously big)
  • Very good and fast SSD
  • 2TB very fast HDD, very cheap in the UK as well for some reason
  • R9 280x is the best price to performance high-end GPU. Competes with GTX 770/780 in all games (both of which are £100 and £250 more than it)
  • Budget case. Had to cut costs to fit the R9 280X in there.
  • Very good quality PSU and it's modular, so no messy wires everywhere :D
  • Erm... it's an optical drive. I don't think you'd need one but you need to install Win 7 so I had to include it :L.

Will play everything maxed out (might struggle with Crysis 3 on max, but no single GPU can play that game on Max anyway).

Happy Gaming!

Slam some fans in this and you'll have a beast.
