Budget system build help [£400]

So... a friend has asked me to build a gaming computer for her. She has £400 to spend. I assume she'll only be playing lower end games like minecraft etc but having the capability to run higher end games would be good. This is what I've come up with:

Is it worth getting a cheaper CPU like the G620 to have a faster GPU?

Cheers

Just in the past couple of mins I've been offered a used (but in good condition) Intel core 2 quad Q6680. Worth using this instead to save money?

how much? for the used gear ?

you will still need an os too

I'm assuming you already have an operating system? I've editied your build quite a bit. It still falls under the £400 pound budget and will handle most games at 1080p on decent graphic settings. The 650ti boost is a great card for its price range, it's 2gb of vram comes very helpful in 1080p gaming. The fx 4100 is quite a weak processor so i have swapped it for the phenom II x4 965 BE. It is a great cpu and at that price its unbeatable, it has 4 core's and will handle pretty much anything you throw at it! Not to mention its very overclockable too. I swapped your motherboard out to save a bit more money, 1333mhz ram has the same game performance as 1600mhz ram in gaming (correct me if i'm wrong). The motherboard comes with usb3 and supports am3+ so when steamroller comes you can upgrade! I chose to cx500m psu as it has more headroom and again its reliable and modular can ensure some neat cable management. I highly reccomend the Fractal Design core 1000 matx case. It can hold graphics cards up to 350mm so you could put a 7970 in there if you would like to. The case itself is simple yet elegant but, for £30 it's very good! It's cooling is pretty good however i would add another 120mm fan for the side intake and a 92mm for the back exhaust for good air flow. Hope i could help.

Lucien.

Grtz Angel ☺

maybe a 7790 instead if a 7770 or a 650ti?

wouldn't it be better just to save  some money on the ram and case and get a hdd? as 4gb ram is enough for gaming and 500gb is a lil small.

Well you cant get a case thats too cheap that has room for a good amount  of fans and is compatable for usb-3 that isent going to arive in bits or is completly useless.

Hdds are cheap things that drop in to the case when you fill one up buy a new one its as simple as that anless your downloading the earth to your pc 500gbs will last sometime however if you can stretch the extra £15 you can get a 1TB drive
