Kinda looking about at computer stuff and noticed this on slickdeals. can grab an gigabyte mobo for $49ish and the x5650 for $30ish thats very game/render able for very cheap

Any idea how good this would work out for a pfsense? I know they don't require much horsepower but I know nothing about xeons
My first thought, as well! My guess is it's complete overkill for pfsense. I've got a machine with a 2x old 2008ish 4c/4t xeons and it sucks power through a straw. For pfsense, you want something probably more like an Intel atom, maybe... ryzen 5? Maybe even just a lower TDP xeon on that same board.
I may pick one of these up to replace my C2Q server. Thanks for posting.
