Broken monitor arm

Was looking for monitor arms for an M28U I wanted to run in portrait (rotate)

Bought a SpaceCo arm off of ebay, and it came ‘as-is,’ which clearly seems broken to me. Asked the seller and he showed me that the item was originally like that

The bottom section has no way of securely locking in and attaching to the rest of the arm, from what I can tell.

Wanted to ask any SpaceCo arm owners here if this is normal? Since I’m tempted to just return this and look for another monitor (or human ) arm.

There’s a black plastic thing that sits between the cup and arm. Do you not have that? Hard to tell from this angle

Shipment seems to be complete going by images from vendor site (http://spaceco.com/standard_arm.php).

Safety lock is not necessary here, since it arm will be secured passively by gravity and monitor weight resting on it.

If there is screw hole inside the base and arm, lock through the package again, it might be loose. Or contact seller.

Ergotron uses similar design.

Hi
It came like this from seller and is how it is rn as I have it

Seems like from another commenter here that it’s apparently okay since it can be held in by gravity. Lol
