Basically what the title says. When I googled it I got a whole lot of nothing which makes me uneasy. Should I not even bother and just return or throw it in the system and see what happens? Is it really just the same and I’m worrying about nothing?
Tried doing a Google search with the S/N number?
I say give it a shot I see another eBay listing as P40/P41 Mine has P40 like shown in the 2nd picture at that link. I also noticed your’s and the one I link to both have different vbios versions than mine. I used GPU-Z to check mines vbios #
Forgot to tag your post. Maybe if I do you see this sooner.
Edit: from someone that bought from same place you did

|Card was clean, no dust or scratches or anything. Works great in my Dell R730xd (with additional power cable). Do note, this uses 8 pin EPS power pinout, not 8 pin pcie gpu pinout, so plan cables accordingly.|
Hmmm ok, if another seller was listing as P41 then I guess I’ll just give it a shot and see. I tried using the Nvidia RMA serial number checker but said the “Serial number/s not found”. Not really sure how to interpret that since maybe its different if say the card came from the manufacturer of the server vs buying the card from Nvidia, but really I have no idea. I’ll keep poking around different search engines to see what I can find and update once I get the system up and running (which won’t be for a while as the memory is taking forever to arrive ).
Contact the seller at eBay threw the messages system there. Ask any and all question to them they may can give more info that can help us all understand better.
Hi, we did get some p41 cards in the mix. We normally do not ship them unless requested. I do want you to know they are exactly the same. You can look that up to verify. Please let me know if you are willing to try it, or do you want to exchange them. Thank you.
Found one more mention on it on Proxmox forums, but just that it was in their system, not actually mentioning specs/differences between P41/P40. Given that they use the two interchangeably in the title that makes me more confident they really are the same. Obviously the eBay seller may have a conflict of interest in assuring me there’s no difference but given the sheer lack of information on the topic I think I’m beginning to feel like they’re interchangeable? But then why make a P41 at all if it’s the same? Idk.
I suppose so yeah, I’ll stop worrying about it now lol. My counterfeit alarms initially started going off when P41 didnt even show up in TechPowerUp’s GPU database but it seems beyond that there’s not much point in stressing about it anymore.
I did a lot of searching as well and found more than a few topics about P40/P41 but the same as you not much info was given by anyone not even the owners of the P41 ever said much and most were just a very limited reply to at all. Not much in this link to help but found it a interesting read.
Lets us know how its working out for you. I almost picked one up from the same dealer just to test the difference. Looks like the price went down a little too?
Will do once I get back home on Monday. Had trouble the last couple days with Nvidia vgpu drivers, but haven’t exhausted all my options just yet. Going to be running a Craft Computing style Proxmox cloud gaming server so once that’s up I’ll be sure to post about it in the Tesla gaming thread. As for the price it’s the same right now as when I got it at $149.99.
Sounds great can’t wait to see how it all works out. Back about 2 days ago I thought I saw it for 145.99, but I could have looked at a different vendor page and got it mixed up. lol
