so I have written off my on board bluetooth 4.2 on my motherboard its either dead or I have no idea how to make it work again.
I got a dongle, this one specifically
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJXZJGVC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
partially because its plug and play so I have to deal with drivers less, bluetooth and wireless has been nothing short of a nightmare for me to deal with pretty much regardless of vender so I figured the less I have to trust other people to make their stuff work the better.
The current dongle works for connectivity, my iems are space travels and they are apparently 5.3, I have coverage for the whole house, and latency wise with controllers, Im unable to notice any.
the problem, audio has heavy compression artifacts that weren’t there with the 4.2 one.
I can’t find any mention of codecs on the dongle, and I have no idea what part of the chain needs to have specific codecs, do both ends need them or is it just the receiving end and the transmitting just transmits a signal, or is it both ends need the codecs.
and if both ends need the codecs, I am assuming that this dongle does just the bare minimum, so any recommendations for dongles that have good audio on them, I want to avoid an add in card if possible but at this point if its between the compression artifacts and an add in card i’ll take the add in card. I want to exhaust dongles first if possible, I think anything 5.0+ would be good and if it has a long range the better but audio quality matters more
