That guide is outdated. Use a newer guide unless you are still running an old linux version(ie Ubuntu 14.04).
Assuming you are running newer Ubuntu, 17.09, 18.04, etc, this guide should work- Ubuntu 17.04 -- VFIO PCIe Passthrough & Kernel Update (4.14-rc1)
