I am putting together a Bitfenix Prodigy for my daughter and decided to hand down my reference HD 5870. Now the fun, making it fit......
The test fit of this card was very tight to say the least, akward twisting would be required. My issue became justify spending more money on another card or mod the backplate. Since I just blew some cash on a Sapphire R9 290, mod was the answer.

After cutting down the offending plate support ( Intended for specific cases ), I decided to give the plate a unique finish.
The card fits very well now.

Now installed and running quite well.

Nice.  Isn't the reference cooler loud, though?

Surprisingly no. Unless you specify a fan speed higher than automatic they are not too bad.
