Got an email - BF4 is 40% off. That means the digital deluxe is only $36. The beta ran perfectly on my PC, so I'm not concerned about that. But there seems to be a lot of mixed feedback with regards to issues with crashes and server problems etc and some people just saying outright that it's a bad game. Yet I know there are still a LOT of people playing it.
So, what do you all think, is it worth it with these discounts?
Uhh... really mixed bag. I think the game has a lot of inherent problems, and they become much more noticeable the more I interact with it. I'm really tired of the game. I have much more fun in alternate, cheaper FPS games.
I think you'll put a good number of hours into the game, love it or hate it. $36 might be a fair price, it really depends how many hours you'll invest in it. I'd advise getting the base game, without any DLC. If you love the game, then purchase premium with all the DLC in one package.
To be honest, the level of playability in BF4 is extremely reliant on personal preference. Some (like 2bdkid) absolutely despise it and find it completely unplayable. Others, like me, accept all the problems with the game, but still find it a lot of fun to play.
If possible, I'd recommend trying it ahead of time, and find out whether it is playable according to your standards.
I played the beta and found it very enjoyable. So I'm not too concerned of whether I'll like the game play itself. It's more a concern about the problems I keep hearing about and if they are as bad as some people say...
Ok, forget BF4. Just saw there's a flash sale for 40% off Titanfall. Would MUCH rather spend $30 on that instead. Had a blast playing the beta and have been eagerly waiting for a significant price drop. Awesome! :)
This is true. I'm a little bit of a try-hard and the game stops me from performing to my full potential. Which is why casuals love it because the playing field has been levelled.
I wouldn't buy BF4, its still a mess and will likely be a mess until its fully dead. Just wait till Battlefront comes out and hope they fix their shit. I'm personally loving Titanfall, i got it day one and still play it almost every night. It dosn't have the gun candy that other FPSs have but the core game play is fantastic. If your the type of person that unlocks everything and then your done, it wont last you more then a week though. Just depends on your play style i guess.
If you'd like the long answer from a battlefield "veteran" who played and enjoyed all BF games from BF 1942 to BF3, who is good at all kinds of tactical and twitch-shooting fps then I can give you a pretty long list of things that are absolutely broken and that ruin the game completely.
