Hi, I'm looking for a motherboard, and I'm considering the gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud5... Is it a good board for the price or is there something that could be better for the same price?
it has to be an am3+ motherboard, capable of overclocking. I've already got the processor.
asus sabertooth is as good as it gets for $10 more

Other wise this one is the best for less money if you cant afford the sabertooth

Gigabyte AM3+ boards are terrible, they keep on making revissions of them, because they all have the same problem, overheating vrm´s/chokes, and northbridge chip, voltage throttleing, and a shitty bios. thease are well known issues on the Gigabyte UD3, and the bios issue, is also a big issue on the UD5. But thease things are ofc mostly overclock related, if you not interested in overclocking then its a good board. but its totaly not worth the money at all. for $10 more you can get a Sabertooth that is a much better board.
pickup the Asus Sabertooth or the Asrock 990Fx Extreme 9. if you look for a topnotch board. for overclocking.
Also the Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0 is a good board for basic overclocking.
