Best headset for under $200

I'm looking for a gaming headset. I want to use it for the new game War Z and the game Dayz to hear other people.

Any ideas for a good headset.

Thanks

Corey

SteelSeries or Astro. I got A40's (wired) for $180 on the AstroGaming Amazon store. :D They retail for $250

Go Astro all the way. Steelseries is good stuff, but if you are able to spend the cash for a set of Astros, do it.
If you can't seem to find a set of Astros for under 200$, G35's a well reviewed. I own a pair of them and they are insanely comfortable. You can wear them for hours and not even feel them although the software is obnoxious and clunky.

It's better to get good headphones and a good mic rather than an headset.

200 dollars for a gaming headset?

Please dont get a gaming branded headset, You' ll  get SO much more audio quality if you just buy this: the best and the most brilliant headset you can get for the money is a Audio Technica ATH-M50 in combination with an Antlion modmic, and if you still have some money to spare get a Behringer UAC 202, it greatly increases the quality

Woah hey there, that is not true.

This applies to the comment below me as well. Some gaming headsets are specifically designed with certain audio frequencies in mind, like most Steel Series headsets. I am an FPS gamer, and I take my Steel Series Siberia v2 over my Audio Technica ATH M50 headphones any day of the week for gaming. Why? The headset better pronounces the high end of the audio spectrum, meaning things like footsteps and gunshots are better heard, while leaving out the more useless bass. Do high end headphones produce better audio quality? yes, but when it comes to competitive play, I will take the headset over the headphones any day.

Please listen to this guy.

@bald I believe these are headphones and not headsets...

Yes listen to this guy, he speaks truths.

Ive referred to the Antlion modmic...

Please keep in mind, that even tho " gaming" headsets are more oriented to footstep sounds etcetera. The ATH-M50 will probably display those sounds even better, since it is designed to be as good as possible on all fronts: Highs, mids and lows. It isnt like you trade in some mids for lows. And the bass on the ATH-M50 isnt overdone (i speak from experience)

Also, you will hear sounds of ALL frequencies in games, things like vehicles, gunshots, footsteps, grenades etc.

This is good advise.

I was in a similar situation when I was looking for a good gaming headset. I eventually decieded to get the M50s since they are just great all around. And picked up a blue snowball mic from ebay for 50. Its about $200 dollars overall and the quality for both is just awesome. From gaming to music to my yt commentary i love it.
