Best CPU cooler? ( Bitfenix Prodigy Build )

Good evening from Scotland.

I was wondering what Cooler should I get for my Bitfenix prodigy build... I will be purchasing the

i7-4770K

Asus Maximus Impact

As you can see I will be using high quality parts. Am using a Seasonic 550W 80+ Gold PSU also.

What kind of an OC do you think I would roughly reach? ( I live in Scotland and currently is it very very cold )

I was thinking of getting a H100i because they look visually stunning and have had very good reviews all around. I would of done custom water cooling but a closed loop like the h100i seems better for moving to place to place.

-thanks

Noctua NH-D14 if it'll fit. It's extremely quiet and cools almost as well as an H100i. It's really a special thing.

If you install a 2x120mm rad like the h100i you will lose your ODD space.

I have a bitfenix prodigy build using similar components (p8z77-i deluxe, [email protected], i got the 3770k because it runs cooler) and I cool my build with the xigmatek dark knight. I recommend a smaller heatsink or a 120mmx1 rad (h80i or something). Although the prodigy is big, once you start putting components in it starts getting cramped. My dark knight has like 5cm of space above it but getting it into the case was not easy.

My first thought is that the you shouldn't really have a need for a fantastic cpu cooler without overclocking the hell out the cpu. Aside from just trying to get a quiet cooler, there just isn't much point. So, I would suggest that you make sure that you actually need to overclock the cpu to begin with. If you are just gaming, I doubt that you would see much of an increase in-game from overclocking that cpu (since it is such a great cpu to being with) without having one hell of a gpu in there to go along with it. Now, if you have some other purpose, then it might be necessary.

I just want to make sure that you aren't making useless purchases just for the sake of it. Other than that, Noctua has a great reputation, and you could look into building a water cooling loop and include both your cpu and gpu in it. That would ultimately be the best choice.

well the Noctua NH-D14 will fit in the prodigy but you have to remove the 5¼ inch drive bay from the optical drive then.. so you won´t be able to build in a optical drive then.. as far as thats matter to you.

I would also go for the H80i in push pull or H100i. easier to install, in a small case, in my optinnion.
