  1. The 9361-8i was nice 10 years ago as a hardware RAID controller (still have one lying around), software RAID on a modern CPU will outperform it significantly.

  1. “RAID5” is not a specific statement, do you want to use hardware or software RAID? In the non-Windows world there is practically no reason to use hardware RAID in the present.
