Why do you think it is that whenever someone does a benchmark for a GPU they almost always use Intel CPUs and rarely AMD?
Is it because AMD doesn't benchmark well, or is it some other reason?

Benchmarking is usealy done on the best posable hardware to get the best results AMD make some great bang for buck cpu's but let's be honest intel make the best higher quality cpu's.
And thats not me being a fanboy of intel (click my name and see my rig)
From what I can tell, there really is very little performance difference between PCI-E 3.0 and 2.0
I would never assume you are an intel fanboy based on your post. I am AMD all the way but I'm not going to kid myself and say that an 8350 outperforms a 4960x.
