I’m fed up with fedora (nobara). I burned an hour and a half for a update task that should have only taken 20 minutes. This happens every time I go to update my htpc for holiday gatherings.
First the updates bork my Xbox wireless controller adapter, then when I attempt to reinstall the controller xone drivers, my gpu drivers get wrecked. After reinstalling all of the drivers, steam and decky some how gets uninstalled or stuck at a older version that crashes the client. Since decky and the steam client crash, this reeks havoc on a games folder outside on a drive outside of the install main directory. No amount of adding the folder path through the UI resolves the issue. Uninstalling steam somehow also uninstalls the KDE steam theme.
Tomorrow night I am dedicating the entire evening to installing nix on it. I will physically move the PC out of the living room so that I don’t put it off.
I can’t wait for SteamOS and steam machines because this experience sucks and I really don’t feel like managing yet another Linux config that is prone to breaking with no option nor backups to roll back to a previous working states.
