I also came to dogpile on Fedora. Specifically nobara and the nvidia open drivers for my rtx 2070. On my HTPC, which worked with minimal issues for the past couple months, I decided to do dnf upgrade. Little did I know fixing this update would delay a local couch gaming session by 30 minutes.
The update made steam unable to find my graphics driver. The solution was to use the nobara driver manager to use the other nvidia open source driver.
Before you get on my case on nvidia and linux, my nix laptop with a 950m doesn’t have these issues. Even if a update did bork my drivers, nix allows me to revert updates.
This annoying experience has made me consider switching my HTPC to nix or SteamOS when that comes.
