Bad md5sum

So I just downloaded an unofficial lineage rom, checked the md5 and uhhh… is this bad?

What that means is that it is not the same file or corrupted during download. The numbers have to match up.

side note: md5 is weak now, if at all possible find a sha256sum of the files you need.

In general, yes it is bad, the download is either broken, or tampered with and not what you think you are downloading. i.e., the file is either broken or possibly malicious.

This is the purpose behind checking MD5 or other checksums in general. Different checksum = different file content.

Is the MD5 sum for the zip file, or is there another file inside? A check of the file size can verify this.

Looks more like a download problem, or the MD5 is meant for the file inside as mentioned above.

Since the MD5 is on the same page as the download button the only thing would be a man in the middle or ISP tampering, but IMO it’s unlikely someone would wait for that download?
Have you tried just downloading again?

Might also be that the download service just has it wrong.

By the way, nice username and host name :+1:
