So ive been using a pair of Polk Audio RT25 speakers for awhile connected to an aiwa stereo system, and they sound really good, i was just wondering if there was any justification in upgrading to the A5+ for 399.99
Since you've already got the amp, you might wanna look into the regular A5's and save some money on the built-in amp.
As for sound quality, I haven't personally tried them, so I can't judge.
I have had much less the same upgrade(had rt25 and some old onkyo). I LOVE A5+ but it has its issues, the angle you place them makes a crazy difference. I love the way they sound, but people who came to my house had mixed feelings, some loved it, some were..... less than impressed. I listened them side by side with rt25, and for me the sound is significantly better with A5+. You wrote it in feb, so I assume you already made the upgrade or just decided not to. If you did, you are pleased with the new A5?
Well, this was necro'd so, I don't think it will hurt to clear this up.
The A5's, which I have, have an amp. You're referring to the passive P4. The A5 sounds great to me, but I've also only had "computer speakers" that came with my computer before I got these. My brother had the Logitech Z-5500, which could shake the room when cranked, but I never sat in it enough to evaluate its sound quality. I have a subwoofer, but the bass on the A5 is surprisingly good for speakers alone.
I am very very pleased with A5+ , without a sub. But I heard a few people tell me lack of sub is noticable... you are using a dac with it ? I connected them to d1 first and they sounded good, but when I connected them to roland quadcapture, they really sound amazing with it. (I would almost dare to say they sounded like a small dali ikon7 mark II)
