I'm trying to edit some files with audacity
when playing said files audacity does this
Does anyone know of a fix? (I have googled)

Might be a pulseaudio issue, I had crackle issues on mint the first time I used.
I uninstalled pulseaudio rebooted and it broke my computer (restored with dd)
Same thing happened with me, pulseaudio broke and I lost system audio all together. Then I jumped to ubuntu 14.04 and havent had any sort of problem.
