Looking at an Asus Z8PE-D12X to push two rack-mount disk arrays (1 SAS, 1 FC), some older PCI-X network and RAID cards. Intend to start out with two moderate Xeon quad or hex core processors and upgrade those later to upper end hex cores.
Have heard some poor reviews on these Asus motherboards, but the feature set is quite rich and have had good experiences generally with Asus motherboards in the past. Budget conscious always.
Interested in anyone's actual experience with these motherboards and their suitability for substantial backplane I/O throughput and potential for video format conversions.
