ASUS WRX90 - SlimSAS to U.2

Morning,

Looking to go from the onboard SlimSAS to U.2 (Optane) - does anyone know the cable required?

I’m aware of the AIC option.

TIA

Derek

Yes those are correct, buy them be happy.

  • Upstream: SlimSAS 8i (SFF-8654 x8) Plug
  • Downstream: U.2 Plug (SFF-8639 68P) Receptacle Port

Generally a good store from what I have seen on here

Note you need two 4i cables not one 8i cable fwiw

Do you have a SKU / URL @wendell? Sounds like the above cables are incorrect.

that looks correct, you may still need to configurre drive strength. if 0.5m is an option for you, do that instead of 1m. shorter the cable the more you are tipping the scales in your favor of no issues

1M is overkill - just MOBO to the Optane in the case.

Looks good

Does this cable require a redriver to not lose signal for full gen4 speed?

You, who are so wise in the ways of science, When you say “ may have to configure drive strength “ does that mean buy a pcie redriver , or is there a built in redriver in the motherboard ( thinking wrx90) that you can fiddle with…

I believe there is a built in redriver here but I don’t have a lot of mileage testing this part of it yet.
