Asus Sabertooth 990FX R1.0 Bios Update Issue

I just bought the hardware for a new computer and it is still shipping. For the motherboard and processor, I bought an Asus Sabertooth 990FX R1.0 and an AMD FX-8350 Vishera. I've read that the Sabertooth 990FX R1.0 does not support 8-core processors out of the box and you need to flash the bios to allow support. I do not own any other AMD processors. Will I have to buy another processor, or can I perform the flash update either without a processor or with the FX-8350?

Thank you for your help :)

If any thing I would get the Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 it supports 8-core processors.

Yeah.. but I already bought the R1.0 and I don't really want to go through the hassle of shipping back the motherboard and returning it to Amazon.

Well you would have to return the cpu, and for about the same price you could get a better motherboard. But thats just what I would do.

Okay.. do you think I could buy something cheap like this just to flash the new BIOS update with?

But thats just spending more money like I said I would just get the R2.0 from newegg.com for 179.99 and that way you get the newer motherboard.

I'm checking out the R1.0 right now to see if that is possible.

This is what you are talking about http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=24&m=SABERTOOTH+990FX&os=&hashedid=H9GanpgqHG8yN8yQ

I'm not finding any thing else

Okay.. thank you for your help

Check your user guide, because you can upgrade the bios without a cpu and dram installed on a z77 and x79 asus sabertooth series. This function is called USB Bios flash back and it's available on the sabertooth 990FX R2. You need to rename the new bios file to a certain way put that new file a empty usb drive and follow the procedures specified in the motherboard's manual
