I recently bought this router mostly because its cheap but its gigabit and ac1200 so why would I need anything better for 2 people on 100mbps speeds?
Anyway its a fairly new router and I cant find any dd-wrt versions that support it. I would like to sett up a router level VPN. I read that pfsence does not support this device? b/c it doesn’t have an Intel processor?
Do i have any other options?
I'm reasonably sure that the ASUS stock firmware already has a built in VPN client. At least my RT-N66U did.
VPN Client and Host is already baked into the factory firmware..
Although if you arent happy with the routers current featureset, I'd suggest to look into ASUS-WRT/Merlin firmware; it's basically TomatoUSB shoehorned into ASUS UI.
DD-WRT cripples NAT, so your transfer speeds would be kneecapped.
