So heres the deal. I have a asus p8z77-v lk, this motherboard has 6 sata ports. 2 sata 3 ports and 4 sata 2 ports. I have 2 solid state drives in the sata 3 ports and one wd black 500gb hard drive in one of the four sata 2 ports. I got a steal deal on black friday for a 1 tb wd black hdd. I hooked it up to one of the other 3 sata 2 ports in my mobo, my bios recognized the hdd but my windows 8 disk managment does not. I tried the other 2 sata 2 ports and I got the same result, bios recognizes it windows 8 doesn't. I disconnected my wb 500gb drive and plugged the wb 1 tb drive into the sata 2 port that the 500gb drive was in. This resulted in both windows 8 and bios recognizing it. I was able to format the 1 tb drive so I know it is not faulty. I would like to have both hdd plugged in at the same time anyone know how to solve this so that windows 8 will recognize the hdd in one of the other three sata 2 ports? I have my bios set to ACHI mode.
