Just curious to those of you that have already updated the BMC to version 1.20.00. Which DOS environment did you use FreeDOS?
I’ll keep that in mind for next reboot. I was suspecting BIOS settings, although I didn’t expect it to be because of UEFI. Will check on weekend Thanks!
Did anybody noticed some sensors goes to disabled section?
My MB Temp sensor is gone and I don’t know what happened?! I have tried cold boot BMC but without luck…
Fixed now! Looks like full reboot helped with this. Anyway I have tried to reboot it first, that ended in unbootable state, USB disconencred during boot process and who knows what else… Then I turned it off and on again, and it is just working.
This looks to me like buggy bios or something?!
I am on latest 1.20 and 1.40.
To finish this up, the source of all of my instability is gone. I had spec’ed out the following M.2 to U.2 adapter from Startech:
Unfortunately, my machine arrived with a cheap aliexpress knock-off. Once I realized that, I ordered a replacement adapter, and suddenly it’s rock solid.
FreeDOS, installed via Rufus. Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way
(I tried to install FreeDOS manually via the images on their website, and … it did not go well. Rufus made it easy and quick.)
Question for anyone using this board with a Noctua cooler.
I understand I need to install the Noctua mount to use a Noctua fan.
Can I do that without disassembling the board and removing it from the case? Or will the backplate fall off?
Right now, it’s installed in a 3U server, on standoffs.
The back plate is adhered to the mobo so it will remain in place when you remove the stock mounting brackets.
I was wondering if anyone here with a X570D4U-2L2T could check whether their SPD readout is functioning? I’ve got 128GB of Micron 3200MT/s ECC UDIMM memory installed which will only run at 2666MT/s. When trying out different tools to readout the SPD information, they all reply with “unable to readout SPD information”. Programs I’ve tried it with: AIDA64, HWiNFO, memtest86+
When I plug the same modules in my X299 desktop, SPD readout works just fine. Telling me the problem doesn’t lie with the modules.
Could someone check if theirs is working? Asrock Rack support isn’t too keen on replying anytime soon :\
Hey guys i learned alot from this topic. Is it stil worth to buy x570d4u-2L2T + 3700x? And what are the idle watts?
Excellent!
I haven’t screwed up, for once.
Mine with 5x 3.5" HDDs + 2x NVMe SSDs + 8x 140mm fans + GTX960 and 2 mikrotik routers is idling around 85W. my guess is max 50W idle. maybe 40W…
Hello guys!
After reading the whole topic I am still kinda unsure how to proceed since the manual is useless!
I am soon receiving my 2L2T board soon and I plan to install a 5900x. Of course there is a high chance that I need to flash the BIOS for the board to boot ZEN 3 processors.
What is the correct procedure to do it? (Never had IPMI board before)
If I understand correctly :
Put power on board. Wait to IPMI to boot. Connect to it on the dedicated LAN port using DHCP ?
What are the default user/pass ?
Then…
Update BMC or Update BIOS first?
Do I need CPU and RAM in place while doing it ?
What will tell me that the BIOS flashing is done? (LED flashing on board?)
Do I need to do anything particular after flashing?
Thank you very much for this nice thread!!!
BMC/IPMI takes around 90 seconds to boot and DHCP is default afair. I recommend installing your OS via regular boot order with a stick or so as the IPMI remote image tool is rather slow…downloads the image at like 100MBit/s although interface is Gbit.
Got my board 3 months ago and it had the newest BIOS installed. No need to flash anything. Got a 5900x myself.
Can’t remember but AsRock manual covers most stuff, that neat pdf helped me out a bunch of times. Otherwise google. Might as well be no password with change prompt on first login.
Thanks for the help.
The manual on AsRock Rack Website is not complete I mean it only talk about hardware and BIOS unless you talk about another manual for IPMI. I found one but it’s not talking about that board. Are all IPMI the same across Asrock boards?
UPDATE:
This is the link I am talking about —> asrockrack. com/support/IPMI.pdf
But not sure this is good for the 2L2T board.
I believe the default user/password are admin/admin.
I updated the bios first, then the BMC. You may not need to do either. Check first.
43W here with 5900X, 2x DIMM’s, 1x NVMe, 4x SSD, 2x HDD, 5x Noctua 140mm fans, NH-D15. Not bad…not bad at all IMHO
I always wanted to buy a wattmeter to see what my server is drawing in terms of power. 43W sounds rather refreshing. What is your CPU configuration? 43W when idle or full load? 10GBit ports active and running?

With ECO mode ? If not impressive !
or get a UPS like an APC SMX1000. Got them for cheap with ethernet card.
