I took a plunge and bought a used AsRock Intel Arc 770 Phantom Gaming 16 GB OC, for approx. 200$ (USD). It replaced my RTX 2080TI FE.
I did some testing and it runs smoothly.
When I have VLC player running with a video on the second monitor, while playing Metro Exodus the Intel Arc 770 runs without hiccups. the 2080TI was often overtaxed while doing the same.
So all in all pretty happy about my purchase.
The newest and most demanding game I have for testing is Metro Exodus. (If Cyberpunk goes on sale I might try that).
I use the following settings below, and on average I have a solid 180 FPS, the lowest is around 120 FPS. I use the built-in FPS counter in GOG Galaxy (not sure how accurate it is).
One thing I did notice is that on DX12 the GPU load is lower than when I ran on DX11, the FPS were more or less the same.
Small update, got a 34" Samsung monitor (Samsung lc34h890wgrxen) it runs at 3440x1440 @100hz refresh rate.
Using the same settings in Metro Exodus albeit on 3440x1440, the game still runs smooth.
I get between 90-100 FPS on average. (I’m 50, and I cant tell whether it’s 100 FPS, or 180 FPS )
On the second screen (the 24" monitor 1920x1080 @144Hz refresh rate) I run Hardware Monitor, Task Manager, and VLC player playing some video content.
So the card has enough to do, but still performs very well.
Drivers are still released on a regular basis, I wonder how long Intel will keep updating the drivers
Yes it’s on Windows 11 Pro newest update.
Haven’t tried on Linux.
Is there some bechmark program you could recommend? Then I could do a proper test/benchmark in Metro Exodus.
ok
I haven’t heard much (I have not looked either) when the next generation graphic cards will be released.
However, I would think that the experience the driver department has gotten with the 1st Gen Arc cards will benefit the next Gen cards.
Unless Intel fires the lot and tombstones the graphics division. You never know.
