Start by explaining what you mean by "array of monitors". :)

A lot of graphics cards out there today support connecting several monitors at once, and many support three or more. Start with getting one of those if your current one is too limited. The digital connectors like DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort are recommended to use for monitors over the old analog VGA connector for clarity, as each monitor allows of course.
If you also plan to play games using say three monitors at once then factor in that doing so requires much more performance out of the card. While using more than one monitor for regular productivity/office use is something that even low budget cards can manage today.
