I’m sure I did everything right. I installed KDE and when I run startx it gives me this error. If I install the missing stuff and run startx again instead of KDE it runs some minimal GUI, ruining everything and requiring me to reinstall the whole OS. Please help.

You have to modify .xinitrc file with the command to launch KDE using the startx command. You can also just use a display manager (SDDM is the standard one recommended for KDE Plasma).
