Because we can just make up terminology to use as a scare tactic ....
The word needs to be spread to the non tek savy that it is complete fiction.
What about a lying dormant defacto police state? Maybe not so dormant...
Why do I feel like the DA just wants some of that good old Big Brother power? He's totally O'Brien, no doubt about it. otherwise he wouldn't be lying through his teeth about this bullshit. All these people are so power-hungry and they're scared that it's going to slip through their fingers, so they'll pull every dirty trick to retain whatever power they have left.
Bastards.
Cyber pathogens are so unspeakably dangerous that the open research community has wisely never published a single paper about them.
*puts on tinfoil hat*
This will be an IT joke for ages.
The ignorance of these people when it comes to technology is startling to say the least...
OK. so ive been thinking, apple could potentially make a one time use security loop hole for there devices if the certificate itself had a short life span like 3 hours after apple hands it over. if the certifacte is strong enough (like 8192 bit or higher) then it could only be used once (or atleast a very short time.)
It would be possible although I'm sure as soon as it was handed over there would be an office of people assigned with reverse engineering it along with an alternative group looking for weaknesses in the signing algorithm ( presuming that the government hasn't already slipped a "weakness" into it like they did with ECC), I think it's a classic case of give them an inch and they will take a mile
Pretty sure that this whole thing is a marketting thing for the FBI. They just want people to agree with them and to demonize encryption to make their lives easier. This is just another step in doing that.
yep. but possible. which is why the signing needs to be 8192 bit or higher so it takes ages to even crack the certificates.
Good point , if we can't stop them outright at leased put a big mountain for them to climb, I wonder how long it would take for their resources to brute force or dictionary an 8192 considering that aes 256 / 512 is challenging
it takes a desktop computer about 2 million years to crack aes 256 for 8 character password. aes with something like 8192 would be theoretically impossible to crack.
Time to send a message to D wave to tell them to stay away from the dod and the like , so hopefully theoretically impossible stays out of their grasp for the next few decades
IMO, serves the partyvan people for not realising about the importance of the iCloud account of the shooter. Instead, one of the people decides to wipe everything from there. They brought it up for themselves.
And what are they going to say next? "The shooter's iPhone must be cracked because an information about a top secret laboratory full of quantum pathogen networking devices will direct us to that location?"
