Anyway to boot straight into clamshell mode w/o opening the lid?

I recently picked up an older HP Spectre x360. Unlike most modern laptops, it actually has an external power switch (i.e., it’s accessible without opening the lid.) What I’d like to do is to be able to just press the button and have the laptop boot up when attached to an external monitor and/or input devices.

But like most laptops, it still requires that the lid be opened before the device will boot up. While only a minor inconvenience, I’d still like to be able just boot straight up without having to pull it out from under my monitor, cracking open the lid, pressing the power button, then closing the lid & putting it back under the monitor. Anyone got a clue how to do this, or if it’s even possible?

That would be a handy thing to know how to do if you didn’t risk killing your battery.

I guess you’d need to trick the lid sensor to think the laptop is open. But that would make it less usable on the go. I don’t think there’s any other way really.

Thanks (?) for confirmation. I’ll go back to pushing buttons and flipping lids.
