Super excited for this new dock! Razer Core X V2 - Thunderbolt™ 5 eGPU | Razer Asia-Pacific
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen innovation in this space! I miss they days where Mantiz would actually deliver some solid products (but yeah their Saturn eGPU was a flop because the PSUs bundled in were DOA). Now if there’s one eGPU that has support for internal storage… that would be amazing!
I’m still using the og razer core that has thunderbolt 3 connectivity when I want to play games on the big screen, and outside of TB5 this seems like a downgrade?
It’s shameful that for that price you actually don’t get a psu with the v2 unlike the first one and you lose on usb and Ethernet capability
On the previous Core X (Chroma) the additonal USB and ethernet ports were unreliable and kept dropping connection - so you are not missing much. But I still dunno why there aren’t any versions wich provide additional ports.
This was an issue due to the latency issues with wrapping up signals from USB into Thunderbolt. Some companies (like Mantiz) sorted out the reliability (somewhat) with dual TB3 controllers. While I won’t buy this very enclosure (most likely) I’ll definitely wait for one that supports both TB and USB connectivity
