Anyone able to connect 2+ switch controllers?

I’m looking to determine if it’s possible to have 2+ Nintendo Switch controllers connected to a linux system via bluetooth, and have a stable connection? I’ve been fighting this for a while thinking it was something in my set up but at this point I wonder if the drivers are just completely broken. I wanted to poke the community to see if anyone is currently using multiple Nintendo controllers simultaneously and not having any problems. I have been trying to use switch pro controllers.

For context what I have found is the following:

  • I am primarily using popos/ubuntu
  • If I go back to 20.04 I am able to connect multiple Switch Pro controllers. This can work for 20-45 minutes, eventually they stop responding and the whole system locks up
  • On 24.04+ systems as soon as I try to pair the second controller it starts to drop bluetooth connections. I can’t even get both to connect at the same time for a minute
  • If I only connect a single controller I have no issues.

If you do have a functioning set up please let me know what BT adapter and OS you are on. I’d be willing to buy a new adapter if it’s a BT adapter issue but I don’t want to start spending money on a long shot.

I posted about a somewhat similar issue here, with Sony DualSense controllers.

It’s interesting that your issues were different across Ubuntu versions. Makes me want to try an older kernel to see if that helps.

I haven’t solved it in the mean time. I don’t really use the controller any more because they are such a PITA. I’m on PopOS so still on 6.12.10-76061203-generic.
