I tried the 2 GPU set up with a friend’s 2080 doing the encoding before I saw your reply.
The result wasn’t much different from just using the software encoder in that I had to turn down the fps settings to 10 in the Video options in OBS to get no frame drops. Strangely enough the 10fps setting is consistent across the board. CPU, 2080, and Radeon VII, only difference is the pixel mess that is the Radeon VII’s output during fast motions.
Even creating a new scene in OBS capturing just the Radeon VII image but encoding with the 2080 still overloads the encoder at anything above the 10fps Video option.
So definitely no need for 2 GPUs.
