Any trustful VPN's?

So I've used PIA now for about 6 months. It has worked good for me and I have had decent speed and ping. However I am a bit concerned about logs, why hasn't pia released a transparency report? And they are still based in US. It raises some concern for me.

I enjoy their service but I don't trust them. So I am just wondering if anyone has any tip about another non US based VPN provider that can guarantee that they don't keep logs och share their information with anyone and so on?

I really don't think they can any more ... and I would recommend against doing anything that makes you this nervous ... it is not good for you.

Well, I am using CyberGhost, they r from Romania, have multiple servers all around the world and have free trial so you can check their services. They say they do not keep logs. Speed is quite OK (im using the free plan). Subscription is like $20 a year.

I don't do anything illegal if that's what you mean. I just don't want the NSA to se everything I do.

How do you guys feel about using a VPS service to host your own VPN? That's what I'm doing right now and I like the level of control, just not sure how secure it is especially since I chose a US host location.

This is the problem with VPN, and unless you host your own, remotely away from your dwelling, you just have to trust the provider.

Also the VPN will only offer anonymity to the server. The logs will show websites that the server is accessing that are tunneled to your machine/device.

If your ISP is throttling based on packets, then VPN's are great. Although I might end my subscription with PIA for reasons stated here. And my ISP isn't throttling as far as I know - 160Mb/s constant.

I've used Ipredator for over a year Swedish based "1 of the PB founders started it" great price high encryption & i love Swedish law No Records & bitcoin excepted "even better"

US based VPN/VPS services are only good for avoiding specific service throttling, but they are worthless in terms of security and privacy, because of the Patriot Act, and the fact that the US will prosecute citizens - even in secret courts - based upon surveillance data, and US alphabet agencies have a well established track record of kidnapping and executing people, including US citizens, without any form of justice or legal foundation, based upon secret online surveillance data. If you're in the US, your best protection is to not put yourself in a position to be framed, so avoid using US-based VPN's, and avoid using foreign VPN services that don't store logs of your activity, so that - in the event that sometone would try to frame you, and you would survive it long enough - you could provide proof of your innocence.

If you're going to go with a VPN/VPS, take one that is based in a democratic jurisdiction, where it is illegal to use data harvested from online surveillance. Examples are: the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, etc...

Also, use a VPN protocol that makes sense. The ONLY VPN protocol that makes sense, is OpenVPN. If you're going to use any other protocol, you might as well leave the VPN idea behind, because there is either no security worth mentioning, or no guaranteed security because of proprietary code that is not verifiable.

Most VPN services offer OpenVPN though, some only if you pay extra.
