There are a lot of stipulations with that. It can vary prefecture to prefecture, different laws for foreigners, age gap laws, etc.
Basically itās not as simple as: āOh sheās 13, therefore sheās legalā
Only in 2 prefectures.
The age of consent in the prefectures ranges from 16 to 18 years, and it is illegal to engage in sexual activities with partners who are below this age unless a parent approves of the romantic relationship. In Tokyo, for example, a person has to be at least 18 years to agree to have any form of sexual relations. In both of Japanās territories, Okinotori Islands and Marcus Islands, the local age of consent is 13 years.
And forcing minors to commit āobscene actsā is also illegal.
Hell, and thereās still countries where beauty pageants are held with little kids posing in swim suitsā¦disgusting.

I believe most local prefecture laws state 18 or 20 years of age to consent to sex.
There is most likely laws like in the US that may protect couples of varying age.
Most places in the US have a āRomeo and Julietā clause.
Although we probably should not stipulate on such matter on places we most likely wonāt go to or live in.
Iām a little disappointed to find out Psycho-Pass 3 is an Amazon Prime exclusive. I loved season 1 and the film. 2 was meh. But yeahā¦ I guess Iāll watch it in December when I get an Amazon Prime membership to watch the new season of Expanse and binge watch Amazon Prime shows in one month. Then cancel. I donāt buy enough from Amazon to justify having a membership for a year.

Now we need to get into the nit-picky stuff, like does a step-dad count as parental consent? Because the mother knows absolutely nothing.
I bet most Western countries have an appendix like that. Here the age of consent is 14 but you can bet your ass nobody over the age of 18 is getting away with having a relationship with someone under 18 (unless theyāre close to age, like students in the same grade).
