I am using Windy personally, it is free, but you can subscribe for some extra granularity (1h instead of 3h).
The idea of using a widget never came to my mind, looking back I am wondering why…
Even if not using the widget, I recommend having a look at Windy, as it is one of the most data-rich weather apps I have come across in the past years.
