Android Emulator Setup for IoT, Appliances and supporting devices at home

The idea I have:

Modern homes will use IoT devices and should be ready to supplement them. Most of the propriatory development is done for android. Emulation is In order to provide similar control as I do have on my tablets around the house.

Networking: IoT is on a separete network with firewall enablid communication based on specific rules.
HW: Intel based chips with Intel VT and reasonable power.
Android requirements: Location spoofing, maybe Bluetooth and WiFi.
OS requirements: Linux or Windows. Goal would be an image that runs on both, but that is a lower priority goal fof me.
Application on android: Philips Hue, Mi Home

What I am looking for:

  • feedback on existing projects
  • feedback on the concept
  • App suggestions and ideas around it

What I ahve at home so far:

  • Hue, Xiaomi Vacuum Robot (The first international version and it is great)
  • NVidia Shield Tablet (Dying of old age, so that is why I am pushing forward on this project)
What I am not looking for:
  • Running IoT applications on my personal phone. EVER

PS: This is my first larger thread here, so I will keep on updating it and making it nicer.
