AMD Server VM issues

About 18 months ago, I was finally able to purchase a new server to replace the ewaste I had in the rack. I purchased a dell with a pair of EPYC 7513 in it. In January, the 4 Windows Server VMs were failing to update. The admins moved the VMs over to the local cluster, running Intel 4627 v3, and all of them updated. I figured out a few weeks ago none of the VMs were moved back. When migrated back, they now get stuck in a boot loop and will only boot in safe mode. I’m being told by IT, I need to purchase a new server using an intel processor. I am saying this is BS plus I don’t have the budget.

VMs are Windows Server 2019 and hypervisor is ESXI.

Bad things can happen when you migrate a Windows install between AMD and Intel platforms. Running Sysprep may help. Also verify that you are running the latest BIOS and firmware on your Dell server.

I didn’t think about asking about bios and firmware updates.

One of the team is setting up a fresh WS 2022 VM on my host. Apparently I am the only person in my organization (something like 30k people total) running an AMD server.
