AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6

Hi,i am looking for a cheap ATX motherboard that i can overclock on for the "AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core 6MB Level 2 Cache, Socket AM3+" i want one with Sata 3, 6gb, it will be used with 2x4gb Vengance 1600MHz, a 7850.Pref from Amazon(UK) but not to fussy

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 or if you have enough the M5A97 EVO R2.0 (better power phase among other things).

Both could handle an overclock of that CPU without issue. I have an FX-6300 overclocked on my EVO without issue - not a large OC at this point but that is more due to my cooler than any limitation imposed by the motherboard.

+1 :)

The GA-970-UD3 will give you the best overclock for the money. It's around 100 dollars and has an 8+2 power phase, so it could probably take your 6300 up to 5ghz (with proper cooling and some luck, of course.)

Also, the placement of the sata ports on those Asus boards are really bad. They look like they will be tangled up beneath the graphics cards way too easily. I really don't know why Asus did such a strange layout.

This might be a little expensive for what you are looking for but it is one mother of a motherboard.

Please note: this is the Caadian Newegg site.

The motherboard that Evo recommended is an excellent motherboard. That is the board that I run in my system, and it is a trooper.

I don't really want to spend that ($145) much on a motherboard tbh. Is this mobo fine? would i be able to OC on it? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-M5A97-R2-0-Motherboard-PCI-Express/dp/B008RPZ5SC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1367503843&sr=8-2&keywords=ASUS+M5A97+R2.0#productDetails

no i would not go for the  Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 if you want to do a huge oc.

then better pickup this one.

6+2 power phase. you can do a great oc on it.

or the Gigabyte GA-970A-ud3 8+2 power phase.

but i personaly prefer the Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0

The gigabyte is going to give you a better overclock. Better power phase and high quality VRMs.

Toast - your comment implies that the Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 has a lower quality VRM. Can you substantiate this?

Toast is right I went asusM5A97 R2 (4+2 power phase) and get up to 4.4ghz stable which is OK but I would have spent an extra 40 bucks for some thing better had I known. The power phase is usually listed in the specs. Surf around and do some reasearch be for ya buy. If 4.4 is enough then go for it but do get some 90' sata cables

I am not talking about the Asus M5A97 R2.0, i am talking about the Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0, thats a diffrent motherboard! the evo has  a digital quality vrm, and a 6+2 power phase design!! (the same power phase and vrm´s as the M5A99FX pro R2.0)

with a decent cooling you can get an easy oc on a FX8350 over 4.5 GHZ without eny issues, Logan did an OC on that same power phase (but on M5A99FX pro r2.0) with FX8350 to 5 GHZ, with decent cooling ofc..

i own the evo but i gonne switch it out next year wenn there are more 990FX gen 3 boards are on the market.. cause i want a 990 fx chipset board.

 grtz Angel ☺
