but now it's telling me to update the "AMD Catalyst Sofware Suite"

I am still running last year's Omega drivers, if I am not mistaken 14.11... It is stable as fu*k... So my suggestion is jumping from Omega to Omega...

Updating drivers on team red is freaking Russian roulette. Especially true once I went crossfire.
Yeah I gave up doing the multi-gpu route while ago as I discovered just like you that support for sli/crossfire is PISS POOR, not only does it have issues under Windows, the support is all but DROPPED for Linux... Just not worth it.
