Alternative use for git internals

Hi all,

I was reading about git internals and I’m pretty impressed with how it actually works. At the end of the chapter, the author mentions that you might use this system to create something else than a VCS:

We hope you can use your newfound knowledge of Git internals to implement your own cool application of this technology and …

Did anyone ever do this? Or does anybody know of a system where this is done?

Yup, I am. I gues I should have made that more clear in my question.

EDIT: seems that’s the term I should have googled. The wikipedia page has quite a few examples, not necessarily built on git though.
