A RIG for software development/gaming

Hello guys, I want to build a PC that can play games and develops software. The software that I program are security and editing related. I have no problem in building a gaming rig but I was told that the gaming rig may not be able to handle software development. These are my hardwares for my own gaming rig.

AMD FX 8350

Asus 990FX Sabertooth R2.0

Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 2x8GB RAM kit

XFX Black Core R7970

OCZ Vertex 4 64GB boot drive

OCZ Vector 128GB

WD Black 1TB HDD

Seasonic M12II Modular 850W

XSPC Water cooling kit

NZXT Phantom 820

Is the hardware able to handle? If no please give me your suggestions. I'm a Singaporean and some parts are not available in my country. Thank you.

i wouldnt go for a Core Edition 7970, theyve had overheating issues, and also drop the black from WD down to a grren/blue and get at least 128Gb for your SSD, and unless you plan on crossfiring 7970's id get a 650Watt PSU

Oops, forgot to put that my OCZ Vector is 128GB. Also, my core edition is running on water cooling. And, I do plan for a crossfire in future.

Now correct me if im wrong but most amd motherboards dont support that memory speed. http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/SABERTOOTH_990FX_R20/#specifications

What? Then I must have got jumped by the shopkeeper. I'm a noob in PC building, so I got jumped quite a few times.

Oh, well in that case, drop the 64GB boot drive and see if you cant use the money on a 250/256GB SSD, and in that case you have a solid PSU, i have the 750Watt version as i plan to Crossfire 2 7950's

what will you loop have in it and have you considered the 3770K because if you did get a 128GB SSD and 64GB ssd id Reccommend using intels Rapid Storage Technology and use the 64GB SSD as a Cache for your HDD make it a lot quicker and easier to deal with the large amouts of Data on the HDD (will especially help with editing)

I had used a 3770k before, it never come to my mind as I heard I will definitely need more cores for software programming. To be exact, the FX 8350 system is built recently after Logan showed in the i5-3570k comparison video.

you mean most am3+ boards dont support 1600mhz RAM? mines a amd3 phenom II board and im using 1600Mhz RAM. admittidly my cas timmings are not the greatest but my RAM is the 1.4volt stuff. but yeah they do

It's listed right in the specifications that it can supposrt 1600MHz RAM. Or did I miss something?

I had edited it after the check. Man, this is my 2nd pc and I got jumped as if it is a concequence of changing intel to amd.
