I’d like to toss in Handy which is a FOSS and Cross-Platform speech to text app. Basically you assign a keyboard shortcut and it will transcribe whatever you are saying and put it into a text box. Similar to Superwhisper or others.
It’s built on top of the amazing work of whisper.cpp so it should be accelerated on most machines using the Vulkan backend with Linux/Windows and on MacOS will take advantage of metal for M series Macs.
I’m the creator of Handy but want to share it, it will always be FOSS.
Mealie docker container for food recipies
Bentopdf docker container for manipulating pdf files
Netbootxyz docker container for tftp boot assorted operating systems and much more
Moode music server/client Raspberry PI image to play and serve music to a whole house setup or just a single set of speakers.
Similar to easyeffects but for windows is EQ APO. No compressor included but it supports VST plugins so there’s a vast array of audio effects that be used on audio inputs and outputs.
Not open source anymore, mobaxterm : https://mobaxterm.mobatek.net/ it is freemium but you can get the premium license for free but I would recommend buying it if you can
How more people don’t know about this one I can’t wrap my head around, but for sure my nod is to Microsoft Garages Mouse Without Borders project for Windows. Use the same keyboard and mouse to manage as many as 4 Windows endpoints on your network by just moving the mouse to the systems display.
Why this isn’t part of Windows is beyond me. Like how you can make so many new file types from the Windows desktop context menu, but cannot make the one file everyone instinctively ALWAYS puts on the desktop…A new .rdp shortcut. Why we still tinker with Windows is beyond me, but while you do, get this app.
Another treemap for your drive: WizTree (Not open source, but free). Although I have to say WinDirStat has improved A LOT while I wasn’t looking.
ImHex looks awesome! It seems to be the open source alternative to an editor I’ve been using for years (decades?) at this point - 010 editor (it’s paid, but I think it deserves mention for being the OG and still excellent).
How can I forget JDownloader2? Must have for download management, scheduled download check and automation, archiving pretty much anything. Works on Mac, Win, Nix, NAS OS’s, Docker project frequently updated. If you self-host just Tailscale or otherwise VPN and setup new dl’s to your storage on-prem while on the go. Can’t recommend this one enough.
Are you tired of df -h? Do you want to see clearly and easily how much free space you have on EVERY mounted disk? Dysk does that. Pics on Github.
It might exist in your distros repo. It does on Manjaro.
