$9000 Gaming/Work PC

Budget:

  • Budget is not a design constraint for this build.

Location:

  • Australia, though could import from overseas if necessary.

Requirements:

  • Gaming: Maximum settings. > 60 FPS on 4K displays (if that is possible).
  • Work: MATLAB, Quartus II, AutoCAD, E-CAD, Labview, Electronic Workbench... Mostly computer-aided design for engineering.

Design (tower):

Design (cooling):

Total Cost:

  • AUD$ 8585 + shipping.

Comments:

  • *The motherboard and processor will actually be X99 components when they are released (just wrote them in for reference now).
  • Not interested in a dual Xeon + dual Quadro workstation build because gaming is not optimised for these components from what I have heard (unless gaming on a workstation build is better than the aforementioned one).
  • Not sure whether dual superclocked Titans are better than dual classified 780s?
  • No experience in water cooling, so still unsure of dimensions. I also do not know how the graphics waterblock fits into the SLI configuration. Would I buy two backplates and fit them onto the two cards, then fit the waterblock in-between?
  • Am open to any suggestions, improvements or comments on foreseeable issues such incompatibility or poor choice in parts. I welcome criticism :D

If your open to using amd cards wait and see how the r9 290x will perform and if they release the kraken ( really hope thats what they call their so called titan killer lol) if not wait for the 780 ti or possibly a 790 if you can wait

Thanks, yeah I'm still waiting for X99 so waiting for a better graphics card won't be a problem. Hahah I hope they call it the Kraken too!

Just something to note, I don't see the point in getting the classified model of the 780 over the stock model if you are putting a waterblock on anyway. I know budget isn't an issue but it seems like throwing away money to me.

Thanks, can the OCed reference card be clocked faster than an OCed classified model? Also, I know the 770 Classified has 4 GB, so I'm hoping 4 GB 780 will be released some time, would help with cad work.
