7950 + 7970 CrossfireX

I currently have a Asus 7950 dcuII @ 950 MHz.

Since a friend of mine will be upgrading soon he will give me his old 7970 for free. The 7970's model is a Sapphire 7970 3GB GHz edition.

I know that it is possible to crossfire a 7950 with a 7970 since the 7970 will just be "downgraded" to a 7950.

Has anybody tried this already?

 

PS: I have a 750 Watt 80+ gold psu from seasonic, so the psu shouldn't be a problem.

Haven't tried it, but others did. Trust me It works.
