355 kb/s...

I’m stumped.
I’m running TrueNAS SCALE ElectricEel 24.10 BETA which I updated within the past two weeks.

When I copy files FROM the system to any Windows 11 PC the speeds are good and normal. When I copy TO TrueNAS from my Windows 11 PC it transfers in kb/s. Starts at roughly 355 kb/s with bursts after about 30 seconds.

Things I’ve tried:

2x Fresh Windows 11 installs
2x Intel NICS
1x USB NICS
2X Wireless NICS
With multiple different drivers.
Network Reset etc.
Different IP address and DNS even though I have a manual lease in pfSense and used same settings on mint.

Then I tried Linux mint on the same PC and added the share. It worked completely fine copying to and from, both at expected speeds. So, it’s a Windows problem but I feel like this was only introduced after the electric eel update, though I can’t say that for sure since I didn’t test before the update.

Things I plan to try:

Playing with network settings (need suggestions)
Windows 10

Any suggestions and help us appreciated!

Is that behavior the same with any windows pc, or just the one?

I forgot to mention I tried this on 2 (different) Windows 11 PCs and - Fresh installs with SMB and NFS. They both did not work. I just now resolved this issue by rolling back to TrueNAS-24.04.2. Hope someone can verify if they have time that it’s not just my setup so I can report if it’s a bug.

What are the vitals of the Truenas machine when copying to it from Windows? Do you see any bottleneck of any kind?

Also, since we’re talking about a beta software, have you posted on the Truenas issue board about the problem? Are there any other having the same issue as you?

Running beta: no bottleneck except low transfer speed only on Windows machines. Linux machines, no bottleneck.

Running stable: no issues or bottlenecks on any machines.

Going to search and post issue when I get some free time.
