10Gbps Setup, problems HPnc523sfp + Cisco Fibre Transceiver

Hey there,

i wanted more power in between my pc and my UnRaid Machine, so i bought:

2x HP nc523sfp pcie NIC´s
(https://bit.ly/2XgULyQ)
1x 10m OM3 Fibre Cable (Kit)
2x Cisco SFP+ Transceiver (FET-10G) (Kit)

now my problem after some starting hickups on my Asus x470 Board i got the card working and installed the Windows 2012R2 driver (latest driver i could found) on my Win10 machine, the ports show “no cable connected” but it is, tried replugging the transceiver and the fibre itself several times, nothing worked, could it be that the HP card cant handle the cisco transceiver?

any ideas?

firmware is uptodate (4.0.0.21)

switch polarity at one end, i.e. swap the fibers on the transceiver and you might have to remove some bracket for that

Oh, and fabric extenders are usually locked down

Read here

under Cisco FET-10G module

It is supported on fabric links from a Nexus 2000 to a Cisco parent switch only

on the ebay listing it says that the Transceivers have no Manufacturer lock

to me that looks shady, list price for those is $900-ish

on ebay you can found them used all over the place https://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_odkw=cisco+fet.10&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=cisco+fet+10&_sacat=0

Wow, I was just about to make a post on the same thing. I bought a 4m Cisco active SFP+ from https://www.fs.com/ to run around a server rack last week. I was attempting to connect a HPE NIC to a Cisco switch and nothing… The cable does work between Cisco switches.

HPE claims no vendor lockdowns on PCI NICs, but I’m not convinced. Going to do some more testing this week. I heard of some drivers having an option for unsupported cables. I’m just buying name brand in the future (and research more before buying).
