$1000 gaming rig australia

I want to run games such as crysis 3,far cry 3, battlefield, bioshock etc. at 1080p with high or ultra setttings.

Will these parts do the job or are they not high spec enough. Also if you have any bad expiences with these parts, bad quality or just not good enough for the money and worth spending a bit more for something slightly nicer would be great to know about aswell

Sounds like a decent build, I few things I may change in your shoes

You may want to go to the 2Tb barracuda, its still less than a hundred dollars in Australia and the same other than having twice the space.

A slightly more expensive PSU (better, not higher wattage rating) may be an asset in the long run as it'll age better, but for 5 or so years you'll have no issues with that one unless your loading is extremely hard or live somewhere in the outback where its 40+ degree air temperature often.

You probably don't need to go with the lower profile ares memory given your not using a large cpu cooler or small form factor case, so get the Ripjaw X ($105), the at equal clock speed it'll get a slightly more aggressive memory timing and slightly better heat dissipation.

You've gone for a very high end graphics card, if your gaming this is good, if not do yourself a favor and spend half that much.

If your hoping for a very quiet PC that case may be an problem, however air flow is reasonable, especally with a decent fan (which will also cut noise quite alot), so either spend a bit more for a corsair 330R ($135ish in Oz) or budget $30ish for a noctura fan if you can afford it and noise is an issue for you.

On the same vain as the noctura fan, if your after less noise or need more cooling due to overclocking or elevated environmental temperatures going to a aftermarket cpu cooler would be an asset, a good one like the noctura NH-U12p Se2 will set you back another $70 though, so if you can don't need it its money saved.

Finally the MSI card will be quieter but the 760 is faster for only $20 more, so you chose well there as you did with the 840 evo, on the whole it really looks like you've done your homework on this one!

I will just leave this here and giggle at the GTX760's price point from the back room........

The two things i would change would be the gpu to a 7950. Beats the 760 and 770 when overclocked. And the motherboard to a 990fx board.

Here's a build i have done.

Practically the same just put the parts i suggested in. The only downside to this would be having no major storage. You could get a Wd 1tb black first instead and buy a ssd later if you wished.

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/1Pr65 6300 R9 270X $1057

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/1Pr6r 8350 R9 270X $1151

I'm still a little bit over on pc case gear but it's near enough

I ended up going with the 6300 because of Apparntly in gaming all 8 cores aren't utilisized (correct me if I'm wrong) which left an extra 100 to buy a nicer card the  7950 and case

Your right most games don't use all 8 cores, but some modern ones do, not to mention the next gen consols are both 8 core so the multi-threading is going to become more common as time goes on.

Having said that for gaming the boost in graphical performance going to the MSI HD7950 over GTX760 will probably offset this... and a nicer case will be with you even long after you upgrade the CPU next. So yes its a wise choice, shame is if you weren't in the land of roo's (as I also am) you'd have access to the FX-6350, which is effectily a higher speed 6300 (same as the 8320 to 8350), thus higher per core performance and the best of both worlds... but its just not available here so the FX-6300 will have to do. It should game well enough given its as fast as a i5 3470 and a bit newer, best bit is you can always upgrade to a higher end FX series processor later.

On a side note, if you are willing to drop $20 on future proofing get the M5A99FX-Pro R2, its the first Asus motherboard they'll support the FX-9370 and 9390 processors... the former of which is $300 with included H80i equivalent (in fact in some tests it outperforms the H80i), so its cheaper than the FX-8350 and water-cooler if you where wanting to overclock, making it a good future upgrade.

Really either way your already onto a good build, so good luck and enjoy! hopefully it'll give you good performance for years to come.
