Hey!
So I'll be buying new computer and also a new monitor. It have not yet decided but I might get either 34" widescreen 3440x1440 (Philips BDM3470UP) or 29" widescreen (NEC MultiSync EA294WMi). So I've been thinking is that MSI 980 worth those 150€ over the Zotac 970. I've been looking at some benchmarks and many times 970 was on par with 980. Right now I have plan that if I'll only have the budget for 29" I'll get 970 since it should handle it but 34" might just be too much esp. with that 3.5GB problem 970 has. But when I compared review the 970 had literaly max 6fps diffrence with 980. And in some games 970 was even better. Those reviews were made by same guys ( tweaktown) and I'll leave link for you too check it here 970 and 980. So except that 980 is more expensive and it has more SMM's etc. its real world performance isn't that much better than 970. And there really isnt significant diffrence bettewen them while gaming on diffrent resolutions. I mean I really can't belive they can have such similar performance...
Overclocked 970 is about as fast as a 980, but a overclocked 980 beats a 970 without any issue.
970 is just a cut down 980 so.
Nonetheless I'd rather look into the 390
After the 280x which ran really hot and was loud as hell, I had to sell it, I think I'll not buy AMD for a long time. Nvidia has more efficient, queit and cooler GPUs. And I'm looking for quiet gpu, so I'm not even considering AMD. I'll probably just go with msi 980 even tho it does not look as good as zotac 970.
if i have to choose between those two cards, then the GTX980 obviously.
Its simply the better performing card, and it doesnt suffer from the 3.5GB vram issue like the 970 does.
I have had my MSI 980 since a month after launch and it is a monster by itself. Small overclock and everything I can throw at it here will run with no problems at all.
